North Conway and hyper local photography.
Three days. three sports, three athletes, three locations all within a 14 minute drive from my house. In fact the mountain biking on the summit of Whitehorse Ledge I rode to on my mountain bike. Yeah, North Conway has a lot to offer. Three different cliffs for rock climbing – Whitehorse, Cathedral and Humphrey’s Ledge. The shot below is from Humphrey’s Ledge (Erik Eisele).
The mountain biking (WMNEMBA) has grown from a smattering of illegal trails to a well designed and mapped network on both sides of the valley. The trail running community has merged with the mountain biking to help maintain existing trails and build new ones. Not to mention the trails throughout the White Mountain National Forest for hiking or running (White Mountain Milers). The bottom photo of the trail runner (Dominick LaPorte) was photographed from the bald summit of South Moat and the mountain biking (Alex Leich) was from near the summit of Whitehorse Ledge.
Why am I spouting all this chamber of commerce talk? Because I want the photo editors, art directors and producers to know that this place is a gold mine for creative locations. I haven’t even scratched the surface of the four different season, by now everyone has seen enough fall foliage shots until next year. Not long we’ll be having freezing temps, ice and more snow than we know what to do with……hopefully.
