Lobstering on the coast of Maine

photograph of a captain lobstering in Maine.

Summer means cookouts, fresh vegetables, and once in a while if things are going well at your house a lobster or two. Cheaper than roast beef at the supermarket Lobster has become the mainstay for summer cookouts all along the coast of New England. Well it takes a ton of work to harvest these little creatures from the ocean. Here’s a shot from a while back that I took while spending the day shooting a family of Maine lobster fishermen in Rockport, Maine. I lucked out it was a perfect day on the ocean, not at all like “Deadliest Catch” the captain here worked with his nephew and daughter, both taking a break from school and happy to be out lobstering on the workboat.
